Dr Grace
MBBCh BAO (Ire) (Hons), IBCLC
Dr Grace graduated with MBBCh BAO from the National University of Ireland (NUI) (University College Dublin) in 2012 with First Class Honours. She was awarded with the First Place in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and First Place in Surgery from the Malaysian Medical Association for her achievements in medical school. Dr Grace went on to complete her house officer training in Hospital Pulau Pinang. Following that, she has been actively promoting breastfeeding consultations and advocacy in the community. She obtained the International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in 2021, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification from Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) in 2023. Dr Grace is active in breastfeeding advocacy and research, and is also a part time lecturer in the RCSI-UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC) as their lactation educator, training budding medical practitioners in lactation medicine. Her current research works are on breastfeeding indicators (BF city) and antenatal lactation preparation.
Dr Grace is also active in community work and is part of the Penang State Government’s Making Penang Breastfeeding Friendly (MPBF) Initiative, in conjunction with World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). Beyond academic and community work, Dr Grace is a mother of 4 children (with a fifth on the way), and has breastfed all of them for 8 years cumulatively and counting. She has extensive experience in tandem nursing, nursing throughout pregnancy, care of the newborn, and extended breastfeeding in toddlerhood. Her passion and care for every Gloria mother is undeniable, and her main focus is on providing mothers with informed choices in breastfeeding.
Ms Charmaine
RN, BSN (Hons), IBCLC
Miss Charmaine graduated with Bachelor’s in Nursing Science from International Medical University (IMU) in 2017 with Honours. As a registered nurse, she served in various departments in Penang Adventist Hospital such as the paediatric ward, medical records, and community health. She became a trained lactation educator subsequently and obtained her IBCLC certification in 2022. She also obtained the 20 hours Breastfeeding Management and Promotion Course from KKM in 2016, and 40 hours Breastfeeding Counselling Course from WCH Lactation Centre Education Society in 2018. Miss Charmaine also spearheaded Penang Adventist Hospital’s Baby-Friendly Hospital Accreditation from the World Health Organisation in both 2017 and 2022, and set up the lactation clinic in Penang Adventist Hospital as well.
Miss Charmaine is also active in community work and is part of the Penang State Government’s Making Penang Breastfeeding Friendly (MPBF) Initiative, in conjunction with World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). Miss Charmaine is a mother of 2 active boys and has breastfed all of them for 3 years and counting. She has extensive experience in care of the newborn and extended breastfeeding. She also has the passion in promoting breastfeeding amongst working mothers and the technical usage of breast pumps. Miss Charmaine’s patient and kind demeanour has provided ample help to thousands of patients throughout her work in lactation, and she endeavours to promote both physical and emotional breastfeeding support to every new mother that comes her way.
Dr Wong
MD, IBCLC
Dr Wong graduated with MD from University College Sedaya International (UCSI) in 2013. She went on to complete her house officer training in Hospital Seberang Jaya. Following that, she obtained the IBCLC certification in 2022. Dr Wong has a special interest in ankyloglossia and has received extensive training in this area while working in the Otorhinolaryngology department in Hospital Pulau Pinang. She is also a mother of 2 girls and has breastfed both of them for 2 years. She has extensive experience in care of the newborn, breastfeeding and returning to work, and use of breast pumps. Dr Wong aspires to provide more community health support and advocacy for breastfeeding.
Ms Farah
Dip. Phys
Miss Farah graduated with Diploma in Physiotherapy from Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) in 2013. She has extensive experience as a physiotherapist serving in Hospital Taiping, Hospital Kulim, Hospital Seberang Jaya and in the Intensive Care Units, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Paediatric Wards, Obstetric Wards, Orthopaedics and Surgical Wards. She also served in Rehabilitation and Nursing Care from 2015 to 2018. Miss Farah discovered her passion for newborn care and has been extensively trained to provide evidence-based newborn care since 2018. She has obtained the 20 hours Breastfeeding Management and Promotion Course from KKM in 2023 and Women’s Health Course from Hospital Taiping in 2012. Miss Farah has been involved in the training of staff in care of the newborn, breastfeeding counselling and antenatal assessment. Miss Farah has a heart and compassion for babies and young children, and hopes to guide and mentor new mothers in their breastfeeding journey.
